Birthday Wishes!!

Thank you one and all for all the Birthday wishes and packages! It was a pretty great Birthday, Vanessa came and decorated our car full of sticky notes late on Thursday night and then my cute companion decorated our apartment with some birthday things. Vanessa stopped by in the Morning and Haylee Tate was with her (a girl I went to High School with that also served here.) Then we got transfer calls, Sister Hughes and I are staying together another 6 weeks!

We played the funniest joke on Vanessa. We texted her and said that I was leaving and I was going to open an area in Kalamazoo and train two new missionaries, and a new trainer was coming in for Sister Hughes. She was devastated, she called Tina (our recent convert) who then called her husband all devastated haha then we texted her back and said, "Do you want to know a secret, cause we could tell you one and it is sooooo good to hear, the jokes on you!" haha it was hilarious, though Vanessa didn't think so but I think she is pretty much over it now.

Then we weekly planned which took a good chunk of the morning. We met up with The Freeman's for lunch as it was Sister Freeman's birthday too, we visited with them and then drove out to see Carole. Carole loves to do random things and is very handywoman. So We helped her paint some things and had a lesson with her. She is doing so fantastic! We are so happy that she has been so prepared for us, She is on baptismal date for September, 16th and is already so excited for it.

After Carole we drove home and did training, then went out to dinner with Vanessa, Haylee and Tina to a little Mexican restaurant, (not as good as Cafe Rio, but it was still delicious.) WE all had some good laughs. Funny fact, so Haylee served here about 3 years ago. We have served in the exact same area's except I was trained where she died. So next transfer, just watch I will end up in Grand Rapids area. hah Anyways, so after dinner we had a great lesson with Brother Baker, he is a less active who we are trying to help come back. He works at a place called Avon Automotive and he is ALWAYS working. Right now he is doing 3 different jobs because 2 of his coworkers quit and they decided not to higher anyone else. So he does all of their jobs. I think it is honestly ridiculous.

We had a lot of great lessons this past week. He have a new investigator named Franasco. He was a referral from head quarters which means he requested a book of Mormon. So we set up an appointment with him. He is retired from the Military and has had a lot of friends commit suicide lately. He is very knowledgeable about the bible but has lost a lot of faith lately. He really wants to know how he can feel the saviors love and know that he is truly there for us. I feel like he seems pretty promising. He texted us after we left and said he did what we asked him to do as well as was in 1 Nephi 14. So we are praying for some miracles with him.

Life is great out here. We have been able to work really hard and bring many souls closer to Christ. I know that as we reach to save one soul, whether it is another soul or our own, our Heavenly Father will be so pleased with us!

I hope that you all have a fantastic week and that you party hard and enjoy the summer, it is coming to an end quickly! Happy August! I love you and thank you all for everything that you do for me :)

Peace and Blessings :)

Happy Pioneer Day!

🎆 Happy Pioneer Day to one and All!
I hope that you all do  something crazy and fun today. At least like a fire work or something.
This week has been a pretty good week!

We had a couple lessons with Carole, we invited her to be baptized and she has accepted. We put her on date for September 16th. She came to church yesterday and absolutely loved it! She loves the feelings that she gets there. She is painting her Trailer home and asked if we can come and help her this week. So I guess I am going to be painting a mural haha we will see how it turns out! Maybe that will scare her away or something.

I actually spoke yesterday for the first time on my mission. I think it went pretty well. I was asked to speak on How my knowledge of the scriptures helps me teach the gospel to others. President Boyd K. Packer said, "In a world ever more dangerous the Book of Mormon, Another testament of Jesus Christ has the nourishing power to heal starving spirits of the world." I also shared a couple of my favorite scriptures the first one was 1 Nephi 19:23 on how we need to liken the scriptures to ourselves and how we do that is 1. Diligently search them, 2. Fast and Pray 3. Testify to others (Alma 17:2-3). I talked about how it is our obligation to share the gospel with other as the Lord has entrusted us this duty (Alma 37:14).

We also had interviews with President Brennan this week. I really like him. He is so enthusiastic about being out here. I have gotten to know him a little bit better each week. He absolutely loves being out here and knows that there is a lot to accomplish. They are from Southern California and are up to their necks with work to do. They have a daughter right now who is serving her mission in Kentucky. After interviews he took us all (17 missionaries) out to lunch and we sat and visited there. It was a great day!

There is this lady named Gail Nelson who is a less active whom we have been working with. She is always so sad and depressed. My goal this past week was to make her smile. I accomplished that goal and even made her laugh. I am going to make her a cake for her birthday on the 27th this week! It will be a great day :)

The Elders from Manistee had a baptism on Saturday at our building which we helped set up so we were there most of the day... oh the worst story. So Friday the Elders had us make the programs so that we could copy them at the church for them. So after our dinner appointment I went to get my flash drive out of my purse to play a song and it was gone! I was dying, it was gone! I knew that I had left it at the library, in the computer after I made the programs. This flash drive is very important as it has all the pictures from my mission. So Saturday we ran over to the library really quick and God is good because it was turned into the front! What a blessing that was!!

I love you all I hope that you have a wonderful week and enjoy this beautiful summer!
Oh Transfers are this week so I will be emailing on Saturday :)
Party Hard :)

Pranks for Days!

Hello! It's me :)🎶 I was wondering if after all these years you'd like to meet, to go over everything :)
"We must cherish one another, watch over one another, comfort one another, and gain instruction that we may all sit down in Heaven TOGETHER!"

I just want you all to know how much I love and cherish each one of you. Thank you for being such wonderful Christ-Like examples to me. I can't wait until that day that we all can sit down in Heaven together and be united with nothing to get in the way and to all be perfected :)

This week has been pretty good, always up's and down's but overall a good week in the MLM.

We had a great lesson with Jess, one of our investigators. She is doing great. She is studying and doing all the things we ask her too. I see great potential with her. We are hoping to put her on baptismal date this week (Please pray for her). I know that she will and can find truth in the gospel as she continues do the things that Heavenly Father needs her to do and as she keeps seeking it out.

We had trade off's with the Sisters in Traverse City this week. I went with Sister Merriman. We had a very busy day. We had a couple people call us in the middle of the day wanting to meet. We ran all around. They have a lot of great people they are working with. It was fun to be in a different area for awhile, but I am always grateful to get back to Cadillac.

Funny story. They live right by some Elders so they are in the middle of Prank wars. I LOVE PRANKS! We had lots of fun with those. The elders got the sisters by putting a toilet that the sisters found in the back of their car and fish. So the next morning we pranked them back with the toilet. Oh the joys :)

Church was so amazing yesterday. I think it was the fullest I have seen the church since I got here. Many people that we have been working with are coming back to church. They are searching for the testimony that they once had. :)
I also want to say thank you for all the prayers for Sister Hughes. She is doing better and better each day. I know that she can do it and even though it is  hard that she wont give up.

This week I want to share a thought that comes from a talk by Dallin H. Oaks entitled "No other Gods" He quotes President Monson and he says, “Let us have the courage to defy the consensus, the courage to stand for principle. Courage, not compromise, brings the smile of God’s approval. Courage becomes a living and an attractive virtue when it is regarded not only as a willingness to die manfully, but as the determination to live decently. A moral coward is one who is afraid to do what he thinks is right because others will disapprove or laugh. Remember that all men have their fears, but those who face their fears with dignity have courage as well.”

I absolutely love that. Let us face our fears with dignity and have courage. In Doctrine and Covenants 6:36 it says, Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. I know that as we turn to the Lord in all the we do he will direct our paths and that we are never alone. HE is always there for us and he has provided each of us with the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost. The Savior is counting on each of you individually. He is counting on you to help those who stand of need, comfort, help and love.

121:46 The Holy Ghost shall be thy constant companion, and thy scepter an unchanging scepter of righteousness and truth; and thy dominion shall be an everlasting dominion, and without compulsory means it shall flow unto thee forever and ever.

I know that we can each be the disciples of Christ that he expects us to be. I know that President Monson is called of God and is here to help guide us and direct us each in our lives. Keep pushing forward with a steadfast faith in Christ!

I love you all so much :)

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th to one and All!
I hope that you all had a wonderful Independence day. It was great here in Michigan. It was so so hot that day. We went all around and talked to many people. We met the Mayor or Lake City, who came up to us and introduced himself and his brother and I said well it is good to meet you. Are you from around here/ a member? He said no I'm the Mayor! Uhhh I felt like an idiot haha.

Then we went and had lunch at a cute little Mexican restaurant ( not as good as cafe rio, but pretty delicious). As we were just finishing up a lady came up and said, "Hi, let me pay for your lunch. My son is serving in Idaho and people pay for his, groceries, lunch and dinner all the time." We felt so blessed. Overall, it was a great day!

This past week we were able to pick up a couple of new investigators. The first one is Carole. Carole brought a less active member to church a few weeks ago and I was able to talk to her after the service. She said she absolutely loved it! So were scheduled an appointment to go and visit with her. That was a blessing. She was so excited to learn more!
Then we went over to a have a lesson with Jess. This lesson was not very easy to get though. The adversary is working extra hard on her. We had it all scheduled when we got a text from her that said, " My daughter I think just broke her arm. We are going to take her to the ER." So we texted Vanessa and asked if she had heard anything. We weren't going to meet her till later so we said we will just keep the appointment and if we have to reschedule later we can. Anyway, she decided to go to the doctor instead. So we were excited and kept the appointment. Then we got a call, the doctors had moved the appointment earlier. We could meet again and in the end it actually worked with our schedule. It was beautiful GOD ALWAYS WINS in the end!!

Lastly, a few weeks back Sister Bair and I were out knocking and we knocked into this cute girl named Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn makes wigs for Disney princesses and does parties for kids. She really wanted to learn about  the gospel. Well we finally got an appointment with her yesterday. IT was so amazing. The spirit was ever strong. We talked to her and got to know her better, she had so so many questions and we were able to answer all the questions. She looked at us and said, this is so amazing. It is all just clicking :) I am so so grateful for the spirit. It will always testify of truth. If It weren't for the spirit none of us would have this gospel in our lives.

This week I was reading in my scriptures (Shocking I know). Can I just say that I LOVE THE SCRIPTURES!

They are absolutely just amazing. I was studying Alma Chapters 7-9. I would invite all of you to study these chapters. One verse that stood out to me though is chapter 9: 28 "Therefore, prepare ye the way of the Lord, for the time is at hand that all men shall reap a reward of their works, according to that which they have been"—if they have been righteous they shall reap the salvation of their souls, according to the power and deliverance of Jesus Christ; and if they have been evil they shall reap the damnation of their souls, according to the power and captivation of the devil.

Now a little preface. So what is happening is Alma is preaching to the people of Ammoniah calling them to repentance. Chapter 7 talks about the Savior and his atonement. It talks about what is going to come. How Christ is going to suffer all kinds of pain for each of us. Now it is our job to prepare the way for the Lord. No matter where we are, what we are doing. There is a promise in there that as we do those things that we will have salvation to our souls and that that we will have the power and deliverance given from Jesus Christ in the Process.

I hope that all of you know how much I love you and how much I love my savior Jesus Christ. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't be out here sharing such a wonderful message. I invite all of you to study the Book of Mormon each day and this week study these chapters and pray about the words that are spoken. I can promise you In the name of Jesus Christ that as you do this burdens will be lifted from your shoulders and you will feel more love, peace and joy from your savior and in your own lives.

I also ask a favor from each of you. Please remember my companion Sister Hughes in your prayers. At this time she is struggling and could use some extra prayers.

I love you so much. Thank you for all that you do for me! Remember, the fight isn't over yet so keep on fighting!

Love Always and Forever,
Sister Milar

I still Hate Animals and Happy 4th!

Good Day one and All

This week has been an adventure. Michigan has been flooding all over the place. Thank goodness that it hasn't flooded here in Cadillac! However, every night it seems to dump rain, with tons of thunder and lightening. I have had never heard the crack of thunder and lightening as I have here. On Sunday our power went out for a few hours. No one else's did so we wonder if a pole or something went down by us.

We finally got to meet with Megan McBrian this week! We have been trying to meet with her for months she is a less active. Every time we try to call or text her she doesn't reply. So this week when we went to the Hartman's for dinner S. Vanessa Hartman invited Megan. They  are good friends. We got a return appointment with her and as we were talking I said oh what is your number we don't have it in our phone. So she gives it to me and I say okay we will call you so you have ours. I give her a call. It rings once and then straight to VM. So we do this a couple of times. Vanessa then tries to call her and it rings just fine. Finally Vanessa says, let me see the phone. She goes into the settings and it says that it is blocked. I just laughed inside as Megan says. I don't know why it is blocked haha So we got that all straightened out and have met with her a couple times. Things are going great with her and we pray we can continue to meet with her.

Many miracles happened this week. We found a former investigator part member family and have gotten a return appointment with them. We were out walking around and they yelled out to us. It was so great.

Then the next day we were leaving an appointment when a man named Don came chasing us down. He is an older man and said I don't know if you remember me, (which I did), but I want to share my story with you and then I will listen to what you have to say. It was such a wonderful miracle.

The last miracle was we were out door knocking and I had to go to the bathroom so bad! I had just drank so much water and my bladder was so full. Well the closest bathroom was like a 15 minute drive and I really didn't want to go in the forest. So we kept knocking, as we were almost done with the neighborhood, and I said I know that one person will open their door to us. Then the very last door we knocked here came some kids to answer the door (4) and..... A PIG!! They had a pet pig named molly! Not only did we get to use their bathroom, but we also had a lesson with the kids and their mom. It was such a miracle in so many ways!
The work is moving forward here in Cadillac. I love Sister Hughes so much!! She is doing great. Learning more how to talk to everyone and be bold, but she makes so much progress every single day.

Okay the title to this email I still hate animals. This week we were out stopping by a couple of potential investigators homes. We had just stopped by this lady's home and were talking to her. Her stupid dog wouldn't stop barking so she picked him up and he leaned forward and bit my hand! I was like you've got to be kidding me. Anyways then the next day we were at a members house and they are taking their 5 dogs inside and they all start to jump on us. So now both of us are covered in dirt on our shirts and skirts and Sister Hughes starts breaking out in hives. Let's just say if I even have an animal it will either be something outside or a fish or turtle.

I love you all so much! Thank you for all that you do for me. Keep being wonderful and let me know if I can do anything for you.

"No one cares how much you know, until they know how much you care." and "Dream no small dreams. They have no magic to stir men's souls."

Keep showing how much you love and care for others. A small act of kindness goes a long way!
