Consecration

This week has been a very interesting week. It started off last Monday with a wedding at the church for a member named Lisa Judson. She and her Boy Sam have been dating for a few months and decided to get married at the church.

The wedding was supposed to start at 4. She asked me and Sister Hughes to come at like 3:30 to show a church video. I was dying but I said sure, if that is what you want. So when we get there. They had just pulled up and wanted to set up all these things for the Wedding. I WAS DYING! She is just wearing her jeans and a T-shirt to set up in. Then she looks at Sister Hughes and I at about 3:55 and said, so can either of you do my hair... Oh boy so we do her hair and she changes.

Then she hands us a flower and said could you two be my bridesmaids hahah so we walked down this very awkward aisle.. I was dying inside but hey it was all for a good cause.
We also had zone conference this week. Oh It was so great. The whole thing was about how to help the Traverse City District become a stake and how we can be more consecrated missionaries. Sister Hughes and Sister Bair sang a duet and did phenomenal. They both have great voices and did great together, you could say that I am their manager as I told them that they should sing together :)

We also have been able to teach Barb quiet a bit lately. She came to a self defense RS meeting this week and just chatted with everyone. We had to leave early but, rumor has it that she was saying that she doesn't think her pastor tells them all truth and she really doesn't like him. The only problem is that she has promised to take her dad to church each and every week and he won't switch churches. We talked about the gospel of Jesus Christ with her last night. She is coming along very nicely. Please keep her in your prayers as we are hoping for her to be able to come to church with us!

"Strength isn't something you have, but it is something that God helps you find." -Emma Smith
Alma 26: 12  Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.

I know that as we put all of our trust in our Father in Heaven, all things will be made possible. That as we try to do things by ourselves they can be nearly impossible. That burdens at times can be heavy and going through life can be a very big challenge if we strive to do it alone. Remember our Savior and the price that he paid for each and everyone of us so that we would NEVER have to go through things alone. This time of year is getting busy, school is starting again, work is probably in full swing, kids are gone and so much to do. I know though that as we take each day at a time that we can overcome the world. That through our faith we can move mountains, calm storms, bless those around us that we love and change the world. I love you all so much. I hope that you all have a wonderful week and remember that you can do all things as you trust in your Father in Heaven and your Savior, Jesus Christ.

Please let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do for any of you.
Love Always and Forever,

Something Clever

This week has been an interesting one. WE NEED NEW INVESTIGATORS! So we have been hunting. It has been great. We have seen many miracles as we search.  We have talked and got a lot of potential investigators and are just praying lots on where to go.

We have been trying to work a lot with Less active members. Some crazy statistics that President Hoover told us yesterday have encouraged us to keep working with them and  pushing more activation. Hopefully many miracles with the District will start occurring and people will keep trying to strengthen it.

This week we met with Gail Nelson, she has made so many improvements to her life. She told us this week that she wants to quit smoking again and that she is ready to come back to church. She has been to church 2 times and loved it both times! She has a desire to be better and to improve her life. Everyone has been so excited to see her.

Another cool experience that we had was with Brother Kendziorski. He is trying to come back to church too, but just trying to find the confidence to do so. This week we had no idea what to talk to him about. So right before the lesson we decide we are just going to wing it and see what the spirit wants us to do. Well we talked about setting and achieving our goals that we want to achieve in life. At the end he thanked us so much and said that is exactly what he needed to hear. We were so grateful for that. I know that the spirit is the ultimate teacher and with out the spirit nothing will happen. We left him a talk to read from the last conference, to the Friends and Investigators of the Church by Elder Coastas. He texted us and said, wow that talk really hit home. That was me in 1995. Then on Sunday him and his son showed up to church! Great things happen as we are diligent in sharing the gospel with EVERYONE!

We also had a great activity this week at the church. It was scripture Olympics. We got a text on Thursday of one of the ladies who was in charge of doing something with the Old testament and asked if we could do it. So of course we said. YES! So I hurry and thought up a Jeopardy Game of the Creation. IT was great fun. Questions included. What were the generations of Adam? Who dwelt in the City of Nod? How old did Adam live till? etc. They all had a great time and the activity was fantastic. We even had our investigator Barb there who absolutely loved it and wants to come to the next activity as well. I love being able to do so many great things out here.

Yesterday church was amazing. Tina Paige gave her first talk and did absolutely amazing on it. She is making so much progress. Also brother Wilder gave a talk and we have been working on reactivating him too so that was a happy day. We then heard from Brother Renlisbacker from the stake. He gave a profound talk about how we need to trust in the lord more and he will trust us. It gave some good food for thought. IT made me think that when we do things are we trusting that the Lord will do it for our good and that he will answer us? As we do it the Lord can trust us with more and more and will keep having us do things for him. To continue the kingdom on the earth today. One quote I especially loved was, "When I feel the most alone is when Christ has the most Faith in me."
I love you all. I hope that you have a wonderful week!

Week 52

What a week!
This past week was as always just great :) We had Trade-off's in Traverse City. I was with Sister Fowels this week. She is just great. When I was in Midland she was there for about 2 transfers and knew her a little bit, but I got to get to know her a little bit more. She is from a tiny town just out side of Delta Utah. She is 24 and a message therapist! hah We had a great time together. We were able to do a bit of everything as we went out doing the Lord's work. At the end of the night she even gave me a little message, let's just say that I didn't complain one bit!

On Friday night we were out walking around the lake here in Cadillac talking to people and we met this guy named Phillip. Phillip had a very thick accent. We kept talking to him and asked where he was from and what he was doing in Cadillac. He is from Switzerland and was here for a race. This past weekend here they had a 200 mile race from Grand Rapids to Cadillac and back. He was running in it as a relay with some friends as he now lives in Boston, he was so nonchalant about the whole thing but come to find out from some of the teammates that he was running just over 30 miles all together (no big deal). We talked to him for awhile and we shared a bit about the gospel and gave him a mormon.org card. He was so excited about it and asked if he could have at least 5 more to give his friends. We were sooo sad that he wasn't living here in Cadillac.

We also had a great lesson with Carole Wheeler our investigator! She is so great! Please keep her in your prayers. She came to church on Sunday and said that the spirit was speaking to her so strong while at church and that she needs to get married to her friend Bob. She is his caretaker but she thinks that she just needs to marry him. So they talked about it and she thinks they will! It was a perfect leeway into the Law of Chastity and Word of Wisdom. She is wanting to make all these changes into her life and knows it is what she needs to do.  Much progress is coming from her and I am so excited :)

The next investigator is Barb. Barb is making so much progress. Last week I said how we gave her a Book of Mormon. Well yesterday when we went back she had been studying it and really praying about it. We have a church activity this week and she really wants to come to it, hopefully as we keep teaching her we can put her on baptismal date and see her enter into the waters.

Church was a miracle as well. Before church happened we got a call from a lady named Gail. Who hasn't been to church ohhh in about 8 years. We have been seeing her regularly and she was calling to tell us she was coming to church!! She came and absolutely loved it. Then when we got to church, here comes Addison Freeman a less active we have been working with. W get inside and Lee Blaksley was there too :) I look over and see Carole with some members talking and Then Franasco. What an eventful Sabbath. So many great people came to church I loved it!! I truly look forward to Sunday each week.

Just in closing today I have a quote by Sister Cordon
"Heavenly Father is ready to give; if we will but ask in Faith."

Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

I love you all, thank you so much for all that you do for me. I know that each of you will be blessed in all of your righteous endeavors as you continue to put the Lord first in all that you do! Make sure that you have a wonderful week :)

RAINY DAYZ!!

I LOVE THE RAIN!
This week I have gone through 3 pairs of shoes because they are so wet from the rain. It takes days for them to dry out. IT is so fun though :)

We had a couple great lessons this week. The first is with a Potential that we picked up a few weeks back. His name is Mike Schimmel. We were out following up from a Media referral who wasn't home and he was out side. So we talked to him and shared a little bit and scheduled a return appointment with him for Monday. Well Monday comes and he texts us and said that he is sick. We tried to reschedule but nothing really came form it, so we moved on. This last week he texted us and said that he wanted to meet. So we met with him one night and had a great lesson with us. About 10 years ago he got into some really bad stuff and has decided to change his life a bit since he had a son. He is looking for God again and trying to trust him. We are so excited for him.

After that lesson we look outside and we had parked down the street. IT WAS DOWN POURING! And a river down main street. We had to go out in it and so we did. Let's just say that I was once again drenched and giggling all the way. I could ring my hair out it was so wet!

The other story for this week last night we had a lesson with Barb. Barb is someone who we had helped move a few weeks back. Long story short. The first lesson she had with us she would let us talk about the scriptures at all. For some reason we felt we should meet with her again so we did. Same thing but not as bad. This last time I had high homes. I grabbed a book of Mormon for her. The member that came with us all 3 times said, you are going to try to give that to her? Do you really think she will take it and I said yes. So we went it and talked about faith for a bit. By the end we read in Ether chapter 12 and she was just fine with it and she knows that the verses we shared are true! She was so excited about it. God is good and miracles do happen!

I love you all so much!!
