Where in the world will I go?

July18, 2016

June 2, 2016 was a special day because that was the day that I was able to find out where I would be serving the next 18 months of my life. My family as well as some close friends were all able to come and support me as I opened my call.

We all took guesses as to where I would serve. The kids loved being able to look up at a map and point out where they believed I would be called.

Dear Sister Milar:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to Labor in the Michigan Lansing Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 18 Months. You should report to the Provo Missionary Training Center on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the English Language.

About

My name is Paige, I will be serving a mission in the Michigan Lansing Mission. Here is a little bit about me. I am one of 11 children. I have 26 nieces and nephews. I absolutely love my family. I just graduated from school with a Bachelors Degree in Human Nutrition and Allied Health. For the past few years, I have been able to work at a doctor’s office as a Medical Assistant. My future goal is to attend school to become a Physician’s Assistant. I absolutely love to travel, I have been all around the world.

I grew up in the church, but from the time I was little I knew that I always wanted it to be a part of me. It wasn’t until I was in middle school that I knew I wouldn’t be able to live without it. I was blessed with the opportunity to travel to the Holy Land. There I was able to walk were Jesus walked, to see where he was born and crucified. I knew the moment that I walked to the place Jesus was born that he indeed was there in past and present. The spirit was so strong, I felt calm, peaceful and his arms around me. It brought me to tears to be so close to where He was and still dwells. From that moment on I have never doubted that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. I know that it was through the Holy Ghost testifying to me that this is the true.

I have prayed like Joseph Smith. I have had a confirmation in my heart that he did restore the gospel I know that there are latter day prophets that lead the church today. I love that I have the opportunity to hear from them. These men are called of God and are his voice. If we listen to the Holy Ghost he will direct our paths even in the smallest of ways. One example for me was when I was searching on what to do next with my life after I graduated college: I was praying whether or not to go on a mission and searching diligently for an answer. It wasn’t until I went to the temple and prayed for a matter of time that I got an answer. I found it in Doctrine and Covenants 4, the first scripture I turned to. Christ works in mysterious ways. Sometimes it isn’t in the way that we want or think we need, but it is what we need. He is there to lead and guide us in every aspect of our lives.
