This week there was a lot of craziness going on. To start off, we had a great lesson this week with our investigator Andrew.
Andrew came to church last week, and as we met with him he said that it wasn't what he was expecting and he was a little bit disappointed. Well we went into the lesson and he said that he was done wanting to meet. That he just felt that Buddhism was what was right for him. Anyway, I felt like I should share something with him, so I opened my book of Mormon to where I had read that morning and one little verse stuck out to me. It is about Sheram, Helaman's son. He talks about how the Lord will be there through all the trials, adversities and afflictions. So we read that and kept talking about how there are trials we all face in life and how God can truly help us. Sister Larsen started to share something and then midway through, he said wait can we go back to Sheram? WE told him of course. So we started talking about that again and he really opened up and told us that he wanted to stop meeting because his girlfriend is angry at God right now and he isn't sure how to help her. We talked about what he could do to help her. Then he scheduled two meetings with us this week instead of our regular one. Which is really great. Keep him in your prayers!
Then we had an interesting lesson with a kid name Michael. We met him at the beginning of December and when we met with him after break he was meeting with the elders. He didn't seem to serious as he didn't show up to our next lesson. So we were going to stop meeting with him. As we were walking home from campus one night, he stopped us and said sister I need to change. I am addicted to Pot and it is going to ruin my life. So we started talking and turns out he said he was willing to do almost anything. As we were meeting with him he was definitely high, so we tried to keep it short and move on. I invited him to church Sunday and he said he wanted to go. So I told him he is more than welcome but don't come high. He chuckled and said okay. Then the most awkward thing happened. He stood up and came to give me a hug and I had a bit of a panic attack and threw my hands in front of me and said, "We don't hug!" haha it was so funny and I am such a missionary. He came to church on Sunday though for all three hours and loved it. IT was exactly what he needed to hear. It was wonderful.
The most adventurous thing this week that happened. Well I went to a YSA activity with the branch which was volleyball. I jumped up and hit the volleyball, but sometimes boys don't think girls can play volleyball and he stepped right under me and well my foot landed on the edge of his foot and it popped very nicely. Long story short, it was starting to be colorful a little bit, but i was pretty sure it wasn't broken, just nice and sore. I was sure that I just bursted my vein. Well we went home and I iced it for awhile. The next day Sister Larsen wasn't very happy with me because I told her I wasn't going to go to the doctor as I was pretty sure that I just burst the vein and that is why I had a nice looking tumor thing. Well we ended up going to the doctor and guess what he said, I burst my vein and have a hematoma. The xray came back normal. Well thank goodness. I was very happy about that.
I have been thinking about agency and Christ lately. I have been thinking about the choices that we make in our lives. Sometimes, we make choices not because we necessarily want to do that certain choice but because it is either what God wants us to do or because it is what will make someone else happy. "If our lives are centered in Jesus Christ, He can successfully mold us into who we need to be in order to return to His and Heavenly Father’s presence in the celestial kingdom. The joy we experience in this life will be in direct proportion to how well our lives are centered on the teachings, example, and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ."
Our agency is because of our Savior. Sometimes when we do things we do them not necessarily because we want to but because we need to. This week we are going to attend an Addiction Recovery Program with an investigator. This program is amazing. It is a program that the church sets up. It is something that we can all do to come closer to Christ. I encourage each of you to find something that is in your life that seems to may be taking over or something small that you want to improve on. The church's website is https://addictionrecovery.lds.org/home?lang=eng
This week is Honesty. I love this program and invite all of you to try it. It really does work miracles. I have been able to do it multiple times out here and I have see an improvement in my life. Come join with me in the program!
I love you all.
Hope you have a wonderful week.
Love Sister Milar
