Sometimes as a missionary you go into a lesson having no idea what to teach or how to help your investigator. All you know is that you felt inspired to have a member come and that is it.
That is exactly what happened with us last night at Dana's lesson. We pushed her baptism back last week. We hadn't been able to have a lesson with her. We really didn't feel like she was going to drop us but weren't sure what to do to help her. We went into her lesson just with a lot of prayer and the spirit.
We started talking a little bit when all of a sudden this guy walks in and is joking around and says, "Want to teach me how to play Poker." I laughed and said, "not right now, but you can come join us we are talking about Jesus Christ." So he came over and introduced himself. His name was Donaven from Mississippi and he was here in Cadillac as a contractor. They are doing some work at the movie theater.
He joined our conversation. We started talking about how we can't ever fail God and that everything we do and go through teaches us something. He had a lot of wonderful stories for us and taught us so many wonderful things. Dana took it all in. Later he had to sneak out but as we continued to talk Dana said that she knows the gospel is true it is just completely different from her past life. We told her that she can do hard things.
The lesson went wonderfully. All day the scripture in Proverbs 3:5-6 kept coming to mind. "Trust in the Lord in all thine doings, lean not to thine own understandings and he will direct your paths." I know and can bare testimony that as we trust in the Lord and do what he needs us to do he will help us through everything!!
Trust is an eternal principle to me. God knows best and as we depend on him he will help guide us through every little thing that we do and go through.
We also had a wonderful lesson with Tina. Tina is progressing wonderfully. We talked more about her baptism this past week and she is so excited. It has been amazing. She has told us that she has been able to receive more personal revelation and knows for a fact this is what she needs to be doing.
Church was so fantastic yesterday. President Hoover spoke to us and I want to share a thought from him. He was talking about the temple and how the Lord always is reaching out to us trying to invite us in to his home. He is always finding ways to allow people to get to know him, to feel loved, and cared for. He then brought up that we are all trying to be more Christ-like and follow his example. So are we inviting others to come to our home, to get to know them, to help them feel loved and cared for?
I love each and everyone of you. I want you to all know that there is no place I'd rather be than right here in Cadillac Michigan. I know that the Lord has work for me to do and I am here to do it. I am so grateful for this gospel and the light it brings to individuals. How are you letting the light of Christ into your life?
I hope you all have a wonderful week and remember to always trust in the Lord :)
Love Always and Forever,
Sister Paige Milar
